Frequently Asked Questions
Who may do the exam programs?
Adults and qualified minors who left school before graduation.
How do they work?
The Diploma-by-Exam Program is delivered in person in Los Angeles. It consists of five multiple-choice tests. You take one. A faculty member grades it. If you pass, you go on to the next one. Otherwise, you cram and retest, until you do pass. When you have passed all five tests, you are awarded a high school diploma.
The Senior Studies Program is available online to English literate students worldwide. It is a six-section final exam/research project. You answer the questions, one section at a time, using whatever references you wish, and submit your work. A faculty member grades it. If more information is needed, you provide it, until you pass. When you have passed all six sections, you are awarded a high school diploma. Diplomas are priority mailed.
What subjects? How hard?
Both programs cover reading and writing skills, humanities, mathematics, science, arts and technology--at the high school grad, not college prep, level. The emphasis is on understanding over memorization.
What if I don't pass?
You study and try again. The only way to fail is to quit. And no, you don't pay again to retest.
Is this legal?
Yes. Dennison warrants these programs to be legitimate and its high school diploma to be genuine.
Who accepts the diploma?
Our diploma is generally accepted by trade schools, colleges, universities, and employers. Sometimes, however, a diploma granted the traditional way may be required. Therefore, you are advised to determine the program's suitability for your particular purpose before enrolling.
What does it cost?
Tuition is $600. This is a significant investment; however, the high school diploma is a valuable document, and we remain committed to helping you achieve it by keeping costs down and delivering quality programs.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2001, adult high school graduates earned $8000 more annually, on average, than did dropouts. That's a $320,000 career premium.
Why do it?
Complete high school, attend college, get a job, pride.
How does this compare to the GED?
Our programs are unique. We do not do the GED or proficiency exams. Our graduates receive high school diplomas, not equivalency certificates.
What does Enrollment is limited mean?
I have retired; however, I will continue working with current students, and I may enroll new students as my schedule permits.
How do I start?
Contact the Academy for enrollment information.
I lost my diploma. How to I get a duplicate?
Write to us with your request. Include your name, date of birth, current address, telephone number, and $50 fee.
